ABOUT FOLEY POWER SOLUTIONS

1. Give us your organization’s quick origin story.
Founded in 1940, Foley is a third-generation, woman-owned Caterpillar dealer serving Kansas and Northwest Missouri. Our CEO, Ann Konecny, took over the business from her father in 1997 and expanded the company through the acquisition of two additional Caterpillar dealerships. While our roots are in heavy equipment, we’ve grown alongside our customers and today help power everything from industrial facilities and hospitals to the mission-critical infrastructure supporting Kansas City’s growing technology and data center economy.

2. What problem are you currently solving in the KC tech industry?
Foley Power Solutions is helping Kansas City’s technology industry address one of its biggest challenges: access to reliable, scalable power. As AI adoption, cloud computing, and hyperscale data center investments accelerate across the region, power availability and uptime have become critical enablers of growth. Foley provides the mission-critical power infrastructure, bridge power solutions, advanced electrical systems, and technical expertise that help technology companies, data center operators, utilities, and contractors deploy capacity faster, maintain reliability, and keep digital infrastructure operating around the clock. In short, we help ensure that power does not become the constraint on Kansas City’s technology and data center growth.

3. What can we expect to see from your company/organization in the next year?
KCTC can expect Foley to play an increasingly active role in supporting the infrastructure behind Kansas City’s technology growth. As AI and data center investment continue to expand, Foley Power Solutions will remain focused on delivering the reliable power solutions, technical expertise, and industry partnerships needed to help Kansas City remain a competitive destination for digital infrastructure investment.

4. How can KCTC members get more involved?
Get involved by showing up, sharing expertise, and building relationships. Kansas City’s technology ecosystem is growing rapidly, and the biggest opportunities will come from collaboration across technology, infrastructure, energy, and education. KCTC provides a strong platform to make those connections, exchange ideas, and help shape the future of innovation in our region.

ABOUT JUSTIN BAKER

1. If your office was The Office, what character would you be?

David Wallace if he spent his weekends golfing and hunting and somehow got stuck negotiating generator contracts instead of managing Dunder Mifflin. I also think I’ve got just enough Jim Halpert in me to keep everyone sane.

2. What’s an app you can’t live without?

If I had to pick a favorite app, I’d cheat and say three: Outlook, AccuWeather, and ChatGPT. Outlook keeps me on schedule, AccuWeather helps me plan life outdoors, and ChatGPT helps me think through everything from business strategy to communication. Together, they’re a pretty good representation of how I balance work, hobbies, and continuous learning.

3. What’s your favorite hidden gem in Kansas City?

I’m a dad of two young kids, so my hidden gems look different than a few years ago. I’d have to say Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. It’s a great weekend spot where the kids can burn off energy in a fun environment, and fortunately they serve enough coffee to help me keep pace.

4. What technology tip are you always giving your clients?

“Hope is not a power strategy.” I encourage clients to think about resiliency, redundancy, and scalability early, because reliable infrastructure is what allows innovation to happen.
