Kansas legislature votes to support state’s data center bill

Late last week, both the Kansas House of Representatives and Senate voted to send Gov. Laura Kelly a data center bill crucial for the tech and overall business community in the state. Senate Bill 98 (previously SB51) aims to attract significant local data center investments, foster economic growth and create high-quality jobs through strategic tax incentives.

Senate Bill 98 can be found here.

Gov. Kelly has 10 days to take action, and additional changes could be made in future legislative sessions, but the support of KC Tech Council (KCTC) and member organizations helped drive this initiative forward. SB98 clearly aligns with KCTC’s mission to advance innovation and make the region a competitive destination for technology investments.

KCTC will provide additional updates to membership, as needed. Please reach out to KCTC’s Christine Murray if you or your organization have any questions or would like more information on this bill.
