ABOUT TURNBERRY SOLUTIONS

1. Give us your organization’s quick origin story!

Turnberry is a national provider of business and digital solutions. Founded in 2001, Turnberry’s footprint has continued to expand over the last two decades and opened an office in Kansas City two years ago. Turnberry provides services in three core areas: business transformation, technology transformation, and talent transformation. We are experts in helping clients maximize their investments in consulting to solve their most complex business and technology problems, as well as transforming their teams with top talent. We unite around our core values and focus on delivering great outcomes for clients, building meaningful careers for our consultants, and making a difference in the communities where we live and work.

2. What problem are you currently solving in the KC tech industry?

We are helping our clients with full-service strategy, solutions, and support all in one place. We take some of the best aspects of traditional solutions consulting, like thought leadership and top talent, and merge it with some of the lean, efficient, operating principles of traditional IT staffing companies. This new kind of consulting provides holistic, tailored solutions for clients and enables us to deliver complex work at a better value. We are empowering clients to solve their problems and accelerate their capabilities in business agility, business transformation, data strategy and intelligence, digital modernization, and Salesforce, as well as plan for their futures with talent development and succession planning.

3. What can we expect to see from your company/organization in the next year?

Over the next year, you’ll see Turnberry continue to grow in the Kansas City market. We will continue to develop strategy and solutions that help KC-area partners rise to the occasion and solve their toughest IT challenges. Some of those common tough challenges include: developing meaningful data strategy and intelligence, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and developing or fine-tuning a product mindset among teams. Collaborating with clients who are facing the problems – and opportunities – of today is what gets us out of bed every morning!

4. How can KCTC members get more involved?

Let’s work together! Please join us to break down barriers, plan meaningful events, and collaborate to make the whole Kansas City technology community better every day. We are eager to unite with fellow KCTC members to bring thought leaders together, plan panels and other events, launch training opportunities, and have fun working, innovating, and creating together in this wonderful city.

ABOUT APRIL GARLINGTON

1. If your office was The Office, what character would you be?

The truth is that I spend most of my free time watching my kids play sports! I’m not much of a TV watcher and I haven’t made it through The Office yet – but talk to me about The Walking Dead, Ozark, or Marvel movies!

2. What’s an app you can’t live without?

I absolutely can’t live without Outlook.

3. What’s your favorite hidden gem in Kansas City?

Veritas Whiskey and Wine Grill in Prairiefire is one of my favorite locally owned restaurants for not only dinner, but also brunch. Their drinks are very good too, I might add!

4. What technology tip are you always giving your clients?

I am always telling my clients, “crap in, crap out!” While it may not be the technology tip they are expecting, it is a surprisingly helpful framework for technology transformation and beyond. In a fast-paced working world, we are often pushed to do more, faster, with less – but not taking the time to do things right from the beginning can have disastrous results down the road. Whether it’s compiling the right project team, developing a comprehensive data governance model, or eating a healthy breakfast, it’s important to focus on quality inputs for quality results.
