ABOUT PONDURANCE, LLC

1. Give us your organization’s quick origin story!

Founded in 2008, we help organizations ranging from small healthcare practices up through multi-billion dollar retailers assess risk and mature their cybersecurity and compliance programs. While we are a leading, Gartner-recognized MDR provider and a top 10 IR company (on 37+ insurance panels), we aim to be a holistic partner that can help measure and mature all aspects of our customers' programs.

2. What problem are you currently solving in the KC tech industry?

We help Kansas City organizations solve their most challenging security and compliance issues. When the unthinkable happens, we are a top 10 IR provider that is covered by your insurance. With services including vCISO, risk assessments (HIPAA, NIST, CMMC), PCI DSS compliance, web application security testing, and network penetration testing, we are able to provide a number of focused, point-in-time solutions to mature your security and compliance programs. We are also able to partner to solve long-term operational challenges. Our backgrounds in compliance, risk assessment, and incident response enable us to provide market-leading, risk-based MDR services (MDR, EDR, XDR, SIEMaaS) that map back to specific controls and compliance requirements, equipping your organization with a world-class 24/7 SOC for a fraction of the cost of developing those capabilities in house.

3. What can we expect to see from your company/organization in the next year?

We look forward to attending and sponsoring networking events and conferences in the Kansas City area including lunch and learns and what we call "CISO Dinners" where we bring in industry leading SMEs in incident response, cyber insurance, and regulatory topics to provide highly curated educational content for senior technology managers and leaders.

4. How can KCTC members get more involved?

Be on the lookout for events we will be putting together and don't hesitate to reach out to me personally at braden.mccann@pondurance.com or 417-761-2054. I'm based out of Springfield, MO but am frequently in Kansas City for business, family visits, Chiefs games, and the best BBQ in the world.

ABOUT BRADEN MCCANN

1. If your office was The Office, what character would you be?

David Wallace. Often surrounded by Michael Scotts and Jan Levinson-Goulds, trying to keep the team focused to hit a target. Have to be the serious business person by day when interfacing with ELT and investors but at home you'll find me goofing off with my kids and lounging around in pajama pants, making silly music.

2. What’s an app you can’t live without?

Google Maps. I'm totally directionally challenged and years of covering a wide territory has reprogrammed my brain to be totally incapable of going anywhere without it. I'll turn it on to go to the local grocery store out of habit.

3. What’s your favorite hidden gem in Kansas City?

Rozzelle Court restaurant at The Nelson-Atkins Museum. The museum itself is far from a hidden gem but their restaurant is fantastic for lunch and easy to overlook.

4. What technology tip are you always giving your clients?

Defense in depth. Build as many layers as you can get the budget to support. With many of the massive players in the industry selling the dream of single-pane-of-(their) glass, consolidated spend (with them), one neck (theirs) to choke.... I advise clients to seriously consider a best of breed strategy with the right partner to provide interlocking visibility and reduce the management overhead of the various tools while still benefiting from control overlap.
