KC Tech Council (KCTC) President and CEO, Kara Lowe, TriCom Technical Services CEO
Matt Sharples and other tech leaders recently discussed survey findings that showed 43% of
Kansas City IT professionals work for non-local companies. TriCom, a KCTC member,
conducted the survey in an effort to better understand the marketplace related to building a local
IT workforce.


Lowe specifically addressed how KCTC is actively working to address local tech workforce
challenges by creating efficient and effective pathways for young professionals to find
opportunities within Kansas City’s local business community through various initiatives, which
include the KC TechBridge, tech apprenticeships, the annual workforce summit and more.


“We’re involving industry now in a way that we haven’t before, and creating a better pipeline,
one that pulls tech workers into the opportunities that exist in Kansas City,” Lowe said in a
